Dear Friends,
Gunpowder God has finally made its way through typesetting hell and is on its way to the printers. Unfortunately, our printer takes off from Dec. 23rd to January 4th for the holidays so I don't expect copies back until at least the middle of January.
War World: Takeover is out and available at www.warworldcentral.com. On Earth, overpopulation and rising nationalism require the resettlement of millions of troublesome minorities or the fragile peace between the USSR and the USA will go down in flames. It is up to the CoDominium to solve this problem and it just so happens the Bureau of ReLocation has discovered the perfect dumping ground for millions of unwanted minorities and religious fanatics while the mining companies exploiting Haven's considerable resources need a cheap and expendable labor pool. One hand washes the other, thus the CD Bureau of Intelligence gives orders to subvert Harmony rule and turn Haven into a CoDominium Protectorate.
I'm already putting next year's volume, War World: Jihad!, together which will continue and conclude the Mahdi story arc. Included will be a short novel, Peace at Any Price, by myself featuring the CoDominum Marines.
Meanwhile, I've just finished the final draft of Space Viking's Throne, the sequel to The Last Space Viking. It will be available in the spring of 2012, along with Wolfgang's latest Fuzzy novel, Caveat Fuzzy, a rousing adventure and continuation of Little Fuzzy and Fuzzy Ergo Sum.
I wish you all a wonderful Holiday Season and a Happy New Year!

Dear Friends,
The big surprise for 2011 is that I finished Gunpowder God early and it is now with the continuity editors. I hadn't expected to finish it until the end of the year, but I got inspired and went on a tear and--voila!--it was done! The book is slated for publication in late November/early December.
It is now available for pre-order for $40.00, which includes Priority Mail Shipping within the U.S. Canadian pre-orders are available for $45.45, while overseas pre-orders are available for $47.45 which includes International Priority shipping.
Gunpowder God will continue the story of our Hostigos friends as they acclimate themselves to exile; not very well, as you might expect, on Rylla's part! There are a number of surprises in this book and one or two that took me aback.
Now that the Siege of Thagnor City has been lifted, Great King Kalvan finally has some breathing room. Styphon's House has left the Upper Middle Kingdoms to lick its wounds and make trouble elsewhere in the Five Kingdoms. Instead of waiting for the Great Kings to realize they no longer need Styphon's House's support, the Temple needs to buy them off or put their own puppets on the Great Thrones of the Five Kingdoms. Now that Styphon's House has driven Kalvan out of Hos-Hostigos, the Temple's next target is the Kingdom of Hos-Agrys, beginning with the biggest plum of all, Agrys City.
Kalvan's greatest fear has finally materialized - an all out religious war. Styphon's Own Voice has ordered Grand Master Soton to put together a great army, the Host of Styphon's Deliverance, to conquer the Kingdom of Hos-Agrys and to demolish all the temples of the false gods Dralm and Yirtta Allmother. Their followers are to be killed or enslaved. The Agrysi League of Dralm begs Kalvan for aid against Styphon's great army that is being raised against them. Kalvan has his own troubles with Nythros, the last bastion of Styphon's House in the Middle Kingdoms, and is more worried about this threat than anything that is happening in the Five Kingdoms. After all, where was the League of Dralm when Hostigos was under siege?
Meanwhile, Prince Phidestros has his own problems. Great King Lysandros is returning from the Siege of Thagnor with his tail between his legs. However, Lysandros, the regicide, is not going to be happy to find out what's been going on in Harphax City. While Lysandros has been off fighting Kalvan, his wastrel nephew, Prince-Elect Selestros, is now occupying his throne!
Verkan Vall is enjoying the challenges of being the new King of Greffa, but in his absence things have gone straight to hell on First Level. New Paratime Police Chief Dalla Hadron is having the devils own time keeping the lid on the prole situation and it seems as though trouble is popping up all over Dhergabar City. After ten thousand years of peace and prosperity, the wolves of war have finally been let loose on Home Time Line.
Fuzzy Ergo Sum is back in print! For more details go to www.H-BeamPiper.com.

Dear Friends,
I've just about completely recovered from my broken ankle, which happened when I slipped on a patch of ice in February. Due to the seriousness of the break, I had to wear a cast and stay off my feet for almost three months. This caused some delays in the publication of the new Space Viking books, but the books have just arrived from the printer and are being mailed to those who pre-ordered them over the next week.
For those of you who missed the pre-order sale, new hardcover editions of both Space Viking and The Last Space Viking are available at the Store.
Victoria and I are having a wonderful summer here in beautiful central Pennsylvania and I am really enjoying being back on my feet. Last week my brother Steve visited from San Diego and we had a great time visiting various local points of interest, including a trip to Allegany, New York to St. Bonaventure University to visit the Archives.
Archivist Dennis Frank and his assistant Ellen Winger have done a wonderful job of organizing the John F. Carr collection. We were given a tour of the archives as well as the rare books vault where we saw some very rare and old books from the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Century.
Here you can see a picture of myself in front of the Friedsam Memorial Library at St. Bonaventure
For the second year in a row, I will be attending the Annual BookFest PA at the Schlow Library on Allen Street in the heart of downtown State College on Saturday, July 16th, 2011. This is only the 2nd annual BookFest, a program championed by Ken Hull and myself and supported by the Schlow Library. Along with 18 other local authors, we will be selling and signing books from 10am to 5pm.
Central PA is Piper Country and this would be a great time for a visit. I look forward to meeting some of you at this year's BookFest.
BookFest will be in conjunction with ArtsFest. As stated on their web site: "The Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts will bring over 125,000 people to downtown State College and the University Park campus of Penn State to celebrate the arts with its nationally recognized Sidewalk Sale and Exhibition, gallery exhibition, sand sculpture and music, dance and theatrical performances in a variety of traditional and non-traditional venues." ArtsFest will run from July 14th through the 17th.
In a few days, we will be launching our new web site: www.PequodPress.com. This new umbrella site will contain information and news about all of my various projects and works, from the Kalvan Saga to my latest novel, The Thousand Year Reich, an alternate history novel that Pequod Press will be publishing next year in conjunction with Gunpowder God.
My next book will be a new War World anthology, War World: Takeover, which will tell the story of how Haven came to be a CoDominium protectorate. This new War World volume will be published in the fall of 2011.
